NOTICE OF RATE CHANGE
Notice is hereby given that Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative, Inc., (the "Cooperative") intends to change rates for electric service. Pursuant to Texas Utilities Code section 41.061 the Cooperative has adopted a resolution approving the rate changes. The rate changes are effective June 1, 2024, or as soon thereafter as may be allowed by law.
The Cooperative intends to change its rates for electric service. It is anticipated that the proposed rate changes will increase adjusted test year 12/31/2022 revenues from $31,081,862 to $32,614,131 which is an increase of $1,532,269 or 4.97%. The classes of utility customers affected by the proposed rate changes are as follows:

At the regular meeting of the Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative Board of Director’s held on March 12, 2024, a resolution was approved adopting a revised rate schedule for electric service provided by the cooperative. The revised rate schedule incorporates the following changes.
- General Service – The customer charge for this class will be increased from $22.50 to $27.50 for single phase and from $35.00 to $40.00 for three phase service. The new energy charge will be $0.119559 per kWh of which $0.073498 is PCRF (power cost recovery factor) base charges.
- General Service – College Discount - The customer charge for this class will be increased from $18.00 to $23.00 for single phase and from $28.00 to $33.00 for three phase service. The new energy charge will be $0.096972 per kWh of which $0.073498 is PCRF (power cost recovery factor) base charges.
- Large Power Rate – The large power rate over 35 kW class customers will increase from $70.00 to $90.00 for three phase service. The new demand charge per NCP (non-coincidental peak) will be $6.50 and energy charge per kWh will be $0.094889 for the first 200 kWh per NCP billing kW, $0.079689 for the next 200 kWh per NCP billing kW and $0.069689 over 400 kWh per NCP billing kW. Primary service discount of 2% will apply.
- Large Power – 1000 kW and over – The large power over 1000 kW rate class customer charge will increase from $2,750 to $2,775.00 Demand charge will increase from $8.15 to $8.83. Power supply will remain at cost.
- Large Power – 1000 kW and over Contract – The large power over 1000 kW contract rate class customer charge will increase from $2,750 to $2,775.00. The contract demand charge will increase from $2.84 to $3.16. The excess demand cost will increase from $3.84 to $4.16. Power supply will remain at cost.
- Irrigation – The irrigation class annual charge per installed HP (horse power) will increase from $18.00 per HP to $21.00 per HP. The monthly energy charge per kWh will be $0.149900 for the first 150 kWh per billing HP, and $0.119900 for the next 150 kWh per HP, and $0.094900 for over 300 kWh per HP.
